In our raw digital world, where things are done by the second, and counted by the megabyte, painting and illustration are often forgotten, strange processes of yesteryear. I find myself, with each passing day, embracing digital, maybe not willfully, but through necessity, digital is becoming indispensable. Sometime however it's nice to stop, take note, or even take a step back, recently on holiday I found myself doing this, despite bringing a laptop, mobile phone and digital SLR camera, I dedicated my holiday to painting, a deliberate action, which I openly confess to having not done in close to ten years. I was somewhat surprised, firstly I have not lost my ability to paint, secondly compared to navigating my computer painting, drawing are strangely therapeutic, and whilst I see no possibility in giving up the digital world, I will mindfully not forget the skills of yesterday.
